• 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
  
• 3/4 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
  
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  
• 1 large egg
  
• 2 cups all purpose flour
  
• 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  
• 1/4 teaspoon salt

1. In a large bowl, using electric mixer at medium speed, beat butter, sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy: Beat egg in well.
   
2. In a small bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt: with mixer at low speed, beat flour mixture into butter mixture and blend well.
   
3. Flatten dough into disk shape:refrigerate, wrapped in plastic wrap, 30 minutes.
   
4. Preheat Oven to 350.
   
5. Roll and cut cookie with cookie cutters.
   
6. Place on un-greased cookie sheet.
   
7. Bake until lightly browned, 8 to 15 minutes.
   
8. Cool on wire racks and decorate.
